Matt Drake is an associate in the firm’s Knoxville office. Matt is an experienced litigation and trial attorney, handling matters in both state and federal courts. He has obtained multiple defense verdicts on behalf of his clients following jury and bench trials and enjoyed success at the appellate level.
Matt handles a wide array of cases from contract disputes to professional negligence claims; however, he focuses his practice in the areas of construction, transportation and premises liability. As part of his construction practice, Matt has represented property owners, material providers, subcontractors and general contractors in federal and state courts.
Matt also assists clients in the areas of privacy and data security law, providing guidance concerning regulatory requirements and notification procedures relative to data security breach incidents.
Matt is a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom III from 2004 through 2005. More recently, Matt served as the Command Judge Advocate for a NATO multinational task force supporting the Enhanced Forward Presence (eFP) mission. He continues his military service in a reserve status as a Judge Advocate with the Tennessee Army National Guard.
Outside the office, Matt is an advocate for autism research and treatment. He also dedicates considerable time supporting organizations and events benefitting military veterans and service members.
