Jordan Scott is a shareholder in the Nashville office and a member of the firm’s Health Care Practice Group. He represents physicians, hospitals, and other health care providers in cases involving medical malpractice, clinical privileges, and state licensing. He also represents attorneys and other professionals in professional-negligence cases.

Jordan Scott is a shareholder in the Nashville office and a member of the firm’s Health Care Practice Group. He represents physicians, hospitals, and other health care providers in cases involving medical malpractice, clinical privileges, and state licensing. He also represents attorneys and other professionals in professional-negligence cases.

Mr. Scott provides representation in all phases of litigation, from presuit investigations through appeal. His appellate experience is extensive; he has served as lead counsel for more than three dozen appellate victories.

Mr. Scott has the unique experience of serving both as a litigator and as in-house counsel. Before joining the firm, Mr. Scott served as hospital attorney for Middle Tennessee Mental Health Institute, the largest state mental-health hospital in Tennessee. While there, Mr. Scott directed the day-to-day legal services of the hospital and advised the hospital administration on various topics, including health care liability, HIPAA, and employment law. In Mr. Scott’s current practice, he continues to advise health care facilities and practitioners on these and other topics.

In addition to Mr. Scott’s prior experience as hospital attorney, Mr. Scott previously served as an Assistant Attorney General in the Tennessee Attorney General’s office. In that role, Mr. Scott served as lead counsel in several federal- and state-court cases involving complex constitutional issues. Mr. Scott continues to draw on this experience to represent health care providers who practice in governmental facilities and are accused of constitutional violations.

Mr. Scott is an active speaker, and he has presented on several topics related to health care liability actions, including preventing hospital liability, quality-improvement and peer-review privilege, clinical documentation, the Tennessee Health Care Liability Act, and HIPAA.
