Kati Sanford Goodner is a member of Lewis Thomason’s Business & Commercial and Tax Practice Groups and is special counsel in the firm’s Knoxville office. Commercial Representation and Tax Controversy are Kati’s primary focus, and she regularly serves as outside counsel for small to mid-sized businesses to assist in matters ranging from formation to mergers and acquisitions.  Her practice also routinely includes Commercial Litigation, Estate and Trust Litigation, and Conservatorships, along with tax-related issues that arise in these areas. A small, but important, niche portion of her practice includes Adoptions, both domestic and international.

Kati is admitted to practice in all state courts in Tennessee, as well as the Eastern and Middle Districts of Tennessee, the United States Tax Court, the Sixth Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court. She is a member of the Knoxville, Tennessee, and American Bar Associations.  Kati is completing her second year as the Chair of the High School Mock Trial Committee for the Tennessee Bar Association (TBA) Young Lawyer’s Division, and she also serves on the Executive Council of the Tax Section for the TBA. She was appointed by former Knoxville Mayor Madeline Rogero to serve a three year term on the City’s Better Building Board, and she also sits on the board of directors for the Humane Society of the Tennessee Valley.
