Ed Owens, a shareholder with the firm, practices in the areas of commercial litigation, real estate litigation, bankruptcy, business law, banking, landlord-tenant and municipal law.  Mr. Owens has handled a broad range of commercial cases in state and federal courts representing a variety of businesses such as banks, title insurance companies, commercial landlords and property owners. He frequently litigates real property matters, including mortgage lien issues, questions of title, and boundary disputes. He has substantial experience representing secured and unsecured creditors in proceedings under all chapters of the Bankruptcy Code. In years past, he represented FDIC in significant bankruptcy litigation.  When not in court, Mr. Owens performs many services for his business clients, including negotiating and drafting agreements of all kinds and advising clients on starting, operating, buying, and selling businesses. He also is experienced in representing lenders and borrowers in loan transactions, preparing loan documentation and conforming lenders’ documents to Tennessee law.

Mr. Owens is City Attorney for the City of Sevierville, Tenn. and is counsel for the City’s Public Building Authority and its Industrial Development Board. He has represented other municipalities in and out of court.
