Media Law

media-law

Our representation in the field of media law has primarily been in First Amendment defamation claims in libel and slander cases involving publications and newspapers (e.g., The New York Times and The Memphis Flyer), magazines (e.g., Esquire and Memphis Magazine), television (e.g., WREG-TV and CBS), books (e.g. McGraw Hill and Little Brown) and the Internet. In a cooperative effort with media to avoid litigation, we have also given advice and counsel regarding the content of proposed news stories and editorials, the legality of advertisements and political coverage and the propriety of corrections in subsequent publications.
