Meet the Barrister – Ryan Clark

A periodic Q & A session with a Lewis Thomason (LT) lawyer

Lewis Thomason: What has been your greatest challenge as an attorney?
Ryan Clark: Realizing that the law is sometimes not on my client’s side and making the best of that situation.

Lewis Thomason: What motivates you?
Ryan Clark: I love my clients and want to find the best possible result for them. If that means winning (a motion, a trial, something else), that’s even better.

Lewis Thomason: What is the best advice you ever received?
Ryan Clark: Long ago someone told me that all choices have consequences. This advice did not come in the context of the practice of law, but its good professional advice as well.

Lewis Thomason: What’s the best lesson you ever learned?
Ryan Clark: Let go of the things you can’t control. Life has a funny way of working itself out.

Lewis Thomason: What’s the first thing you do after work?
Ryan Clark: I hear about my daughters’ daily adventures in first grade and preschool. Usually, they are much more entertaining than whatever I did that day.

Lewis Thomason: What do you do in your spare time?
Ryan Clark: I enjoy cooking and also spend a lot of time enjoying Nashville’s diverse music scene.

Lewis Thomason: When I was in high school my friends would describe me as _.
Ryan Clark: Total nerd. Some things don’t change.

Lewis Thomason: What is your favorite way to waste time?
Ryan Clark: Sitting on the beach doing nothing. Sadly, LT’s Nashville office does not feature a beach, so this is only of limited utility during the work week.

Lewis Thomason: If you could choose to do anything for a day, what would it be?
Ryan Clark: Explore a city I have never visited before.

Lewis Thomason: What is your favorite game or sport to watch and play?
Ryan Clark: The 2017 playoffs have been kind to my teams, so right now I rotate between Predators hockey, Warriors basketball and Davidson and Vanderbilt baseball.
