Marshall Stair, a shareholder in the firm’s Knoxville office, concentrates his practice in employment law with an emphasis on the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA/wage & hour/overtime), insurance casualty defense, and general commercial and tort litigation. While attending law school, he worked for the United States Department of Labor, Wage and Hour Division, assisting federal investigations enforcing the Fair Labor Standards Act.  After earning his degree from the University of Tennessee in 2008, Mr. Stair used his knowledge and experience with the FLSA to assist and defend employers of all sizes facing claims of minimum wage and overtime violations in Federal Courts and Department of Labor investigations.

In addition to FLSA litigation, Mr. Stair has over a decade of experience handling personal injury, insurance and casualty defense claims. He has defended transportation, wrongful death, and other catastrophic injury cases throughout the courts of Tennessee.

With a passion for the community, Mr. Stair served as an elected at-large member of the Knoxville City Council from 2011-2019, serving as Chair of the Audit Committee and Public Property Naming Committee.  He has also served on the board of a number of local non-profits including Central Business Improvement District, East Tennessee Historical Society,  Bijou Theatre, Legacy Parks, Knoxville Symphony Orchestra, Knoxville History Project, and Appalachian Mountain Bike Club.
