Chuck Cagle, shareholder and chair of the Education Law and Government Relations Practice Group in Lewis Thomason’s Nashville office, has been appointed the Education Council Chair of the Tennessee Business Roundtable Board.
Founded in 1983, the Roundtable has partnered successfully with five Governors and hundreds of businesses, non-profit and government stakeholders to create and promote policies which have contributed significantly to the success of the Volunteer State’s economy and people, particularly in the area of public education. At Lewis Thomason, Cagle oversees the firm’s representation of over 70 public boards of education, two private schools, two private universities, and a private medical school in a variety of legal matters. In addition, he has served as an adjunct professor at Vanderbilt University teaching courses in K-12 Education Law and Public Policy and the Law of Higher Education.
Among his numerous professional honors, Cagle is on the Tennessee Council of School Board Attorneys, the National School Boards Association’s Council of School Attorneys, the Education Law Association, and he is a Fellow of the Nashville Bar Association. Cagle was selected by American Lawyer Media and Martindale-Hubbell as Elite Lawyer of the South. He is a recipient of the Kip Reel Award (the highest honor given by the Tennessee Organization of School Superintendents), the Technological University Outstanding Service Award, and the Tennessee Technological University Department of Education Distinguished Alumni Award. He is on the Historical Committee, the Government Relations Committee, and the Federal Practice Committee at the Nashville Bar Association.
