Lewis Thomason shareholder Chris W. McCarty recently participated in the Tennessee School Boards Association’s 2026 Summer Law Institute in Gatlinburg. Chris presented “Student Expression & School Authority: Navigating the First Amendment,” providing attendees with guidance on the evolving legal issues surrounding student speech and school governance. Chris also served on the panel discussion “Your Board Attorney at Work,” joining fellow school law practitioners to share practical insights on the role of board attorneys and the legal issues facing Tennessee school districts. The TSBA Summer Law Institute brings together school board attorneys, board members, and superintendents from across Tennessee for training on legislative developments and school law trends.
