Retained for consultation and testimony in a commercial real estate dispute between a landlord and a tenant’s lender, Lars Schuller was called to testify at trial as an expert in the area of real estate title matters. The trial judge accepted Lars as an expert in real estate title matters, heard Lars’ direct and cross-examination testimony, and also examined Lars on his reading of the parties’ disputed written… contract. In accordance with Lars’ expert witness testimony, the trial court ruled in favor of Lars’ client. Upholding the trial court’s ruling, the Tennessee Court of Appeals, in Flynn v. Citizens National bank, No. E2014-02231- COA-R3-CV, 2015 Tenn. App. LEXIS 874 (October 26, 2015), extensively quoted Lars’ testimony regarding the contract; and after discussing the law of contract interpretation, the appellate court held that Lars Schuller’s reading was a reasonable interpretation of the document.
Lars Schuller joined the firm as special counsel in 2006 as the manager of the firm’s Sevierville office. He now practices in the firm’s Knoxville office, principally in the areas of real estate litigation, real estate title law, real estate transactions, and related matters.
