Eric Butler Named Co-Chair

Lewis Thomason is proud to share that Lewis Thomason shareholder Eric Butler has been named co-chair of the Tennessee Judicial Conference Foundation’s initiative to establish the Judge James Curwood Witt Jr. Legacy Scholarship.  The Tennessee Judicial Conference Foundation (TJCF) has approved a resolution to honor the late Judge Witt—an esteemed jurist, former presiding judge of the Tennessee Court of Criminal Appeals, and the court’s longest‑serving member with 27 years of dedicated service.

To celebrate his legacy, the TJCF will match donations up to $12,500, creating a fund that will award an annual $1,500 scholarship to a student at the University of Tennessee, Winston College of Law.

Eric Butler, along with attorney Ann Short, will lead this meaningful effort to honor Judge Witt’s profound impact on the Tennessee legal community.

Donations may be made by check, payable to TJCF, with a note indicating “Judge Curwood Witt Scholarship,” and mailed to:

We’re honored to support this important initiative and proud of Eric’s leadership in carrying Judge Witt’s legacy forward.
