The defense team of Jonathan May and Laura Deakins defied the rule, winning a verdict for the defendant in a workers’ compensation case trial in the Shelby County Chancery Court.

He has substantial experience defending claims involving workers’ compensation and insurance bad faith. In addition to his active litigation practice, Mr. May has counseled small business clients on matters including entity formation, employment law compliance and preparation of employer policies and procedures.

 

Laura DeakinsAfter serving four years as the judicial law clerk to the Honorable Holly Kirby on both the Tennessee Supreme Court and Tennessee Court of Appeals, Ms. Deakins joined Lewis Thomason as an associate in 2015.  During law school, Ms. Deakins also served as a judicial intern to the Honorable Jon P. McCalla of the Western District of Tennessee and the Honorable Janice M. Holder of the Tennessee Supreme Court.
