Lewis Thomason is proud to announce Justin Joy, shareholder in the firms’ Memphis office, has been elected Secretary/Treasurer for the Memphis Bar Association.
Joy leads Lewis Thomason’s Data Security, Artificial Intelligence, and Information Governance practice group and is the firm’s privacy officer. He provides counsel to clients in a variety of industries in the area of information privacy and cybersecurity including incident investigation and breach response management, regulatory compliance, privacy and security policy review and drafting, and cyber risk management. In the area of healthcare, Joy counsels covered entities and business associates on a variety of matters pertaining to HIPAA Privacy Rule, Security Rule, and Breach Notification Rule compliance. He is a frequent speaker to various groups and organizations on the topic of information privacy and cybersecurity. In addition to HIPAA, he also advises healthcare organizations regarding several regulatory matters and represents healthcare professionals and entities in state and federal investigations. Joy also represents businesses and individuals in a variety of litigation matters including professional liability claims, insurance coverage disputes, business torts, and commercial disputes.
Among his many professional accomplishments, Joy is a Fellow in the American Bar Association, Board Member of the Memphis Bar Association, included in Best Lawyers and Mid-South Super Lawyers, and Article editor of The University of Memphis Law Review. Through the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) Joy is an AIGP/Artificial Intelligence Governance Professional, a CIPT/Certified Information Privacy Technologist, and a CIPP/US Certified Information Privacy Professional/United States. He is a member of the American, Arkansas, Tennessee, and Memphis Bar Associations.
