Justin Joy was a recent presenter with the Memphis Bar Association on the ethical application of AI in the practice of law. Justin’s presentation discussed the fundamentals of large language models and generative AI and how ethics rules intersect with GenAI use by lawyers. Justin is a shareholder in Lewis Thomason’s Memphis office, where he leads the firm’s Cybersecurity Practice Group and serves as its Chief Privacy Officer. He advises clients on data privacy, breach response, and regulatory compliance, particularly in healthcare and commercial sectors. In addition to his litigation and business advisory work, Justin focuses on the legal governance of artificial intelligence, helping organizations navigate emerging AI regulations and ethical considerations. He holds the Artificial Intelligence Governance Professional (AIGP) credential, along with certifications in privacy law and technology (CIPP/US, CIPT).
