At the January 29 Association for Women Attorneys’ (AWA) banquet, Laura Deakins will become president of the AWA, representing bold, millennial leadership.
“I’m hoping to be able to be a representative for the female legal community, especially in the current climate,” Deakins said. “It’s important for women to be able to band together and get things done in our way. It’s (AWA) a good platform to be on in this time on a national and local level.”

Laura Deakins is an associate at Lewis Thomason where her civil litigation practice primarily involves defending doctors and hospitals in medical malpractice actions and insurance defense. She received the Super Lawyers 2018 Rising Star Award in the appellate category, given to only 2.5 percent of lawyers in each state, as well as recognition by the Tennessee Supreme Court as 2018 Attorney for Justice.
