Lewis Thomason Elects Board Members

Lewis Thomason’s shareholders have elected Janet Strevel Hayes, a shareholder in the firm’s Knoxville office, and Margaret Cooper Roney, a shareholder in the firm’s Memphis office, to the Board of Directors. Rodney Fields, Joseph Clark, and David Garst were also reelected for another two-year term. They join current Board members, Benjamin Jones, Reba Brown, Robert Chapski, and Marty Regan.  Rodney Fields was also re-elected Chairman of the Board.

Janet Hayes is an advocate for employers and businesses across the state. Her practice focuses on employment and appellate law.  Hayes has successfully defended all types of employment claims including sexual harassment, retaliatory discharge, discrimination, workers’ compensation, invasion of privacy, wage/hour claims, and denial of benefits. She has also argued multiple issues in each of Tennessee’s appellate courts, including the Supreme Court of Tennessee. She has argued federal appeals in the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.

Margaret Cooper Roney has a diverse litigation practice throughout West Tennessee, with particular emphasis in representing defendants in healthcare liability, transportation, product liability, and personal injury litigation.  She serves on the firm’s recruitment committee and is responsible for interviewing and hiring candidates for the firm’s summer associate program.  Roney is also active in her community, serving on many non-profit boards.  She also serves on the firm’s diversity, equity, and inclusion committee, InclusivLT.

With the addition of Roney and Hayes, Lewis Thomason’s Board of Directors is now 45% female, another step in the firm’s strategic goal to develop and maintain a more diverse Lewis Thomason.

Board members are elected for two-year terms in alternate years.  David Garst, Reba Brown, and Robert Chapski are shareholders practicing in the Nashville office. Joseph Clark and Marty Regan are shareholders practicing in the Memphis office. Benjamin Jones is a shareholder practicing in the Knoxville office.
