The Lewis Thomason law firm’s Memphis office, with 35 attorneys and 68 employees total, announced Tuesday that it has recommitted to Downtown by renewing its lease for the top two floors of the One Commerce Square tower.

The firm essentially decided about a month ago to stay after looking “everywhere,” said managing shareholder Michael Keeney.

But the announcement adds to Downtown momentum, coming 11 days after ServiceMaster revealed its headquarters with 1,200 employees will move from East Memphis to Downtown’s long-vacant Peabody Place mall.

“As part of our firm’s culture, we really love being Downtown,” Keeney said. “We love the vibrancy of Downtown. I think there’s a great feel to being Downtown, and I think it is important for the city to have a strong Downtown. And if we can help solidify that, we’re glad to do it.”
