Marty Regan Receives Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters

Marty Regan, Shareholder in Lewis Thomason’s Memphis office, delivered the commencement address for the 2023 graduates of the Southern College of Optometry and was presented with an Honorary Doctor of Humane letters. Regan has served as counsel for the Southern College of Optometry since 1985 and his expertise was instrumental in their significant growth and the building of The Eye Center and other significant improvements through the decades.

Regan serves as the Senior Staff Attorney to the City of Memphis. He is General Counsel to the Southern College of Optometry, General Counsel and Planned Giving Director to Community Foundation of Greater Memphis, and outside Counsel to UT Medical Group, Inc. (University Clinical Health). He is a Director of the Memphis Grizzlies foundation, and Memphis Land Bank, Inc. He is also Director and Officer at Alliance Healthcare Services, Inc. and Alpha Omega Veterans Services, Inc.

Regan has received several honors, including the Edward F. Barry Award, the National Conference for Justice Humanitarian Award, and The Commercial Appeal’s “Sportsman of the Year” award for leading the pursuit of the Memphis Grizzlies’ relocation from Vancouver. He is named to The Best Lawyers in America® and named a Best Lawyers® Lawyer of the Year in Memphis.

He is a member of the National Catholic Diocesan Attorney’s Association and the American, Memphis, and Tennessee Bar Associations.
