Meet the Barrister – Jimmy Duckworth

A periodic Q & A session with a Lewis Thomason (LT) lawyer

Lewis Thomason: What do you want your legacy to be?
Jimmy Duckworth: To be loved and respected by my family.

Lewis Thomason: What is one thing on your bucket list and why?
Jimmy Duckworth: I would love to attend each leg of the Triple Crown. I love horse racing and all of the drama that comes with it.

Lewis Thomason: What motivates you?
Jimmy Duckworth: Stories of redemption and underdogs prevailing. I love David vs. Goliath stories.

Lewis Thomason: What’s the best advice you ever received?
Jimmy Duckworth: When you come to a fork in the road, take it.

Lewis Thomason: My biggest “pet peeve” is ________________.
Jimmy Duckworth: This is a tie between arrogant lawyers and people driving slow in the left lane.

Lewis Thomason: What’s the last concert you went to?
Jimmy Duckworth: Slayer. It was awesome.

Lewis Thomason: What is something that is popular now that annoys you?
Jimmy Duckworth: Over sized water bottles. Yes, I see you are drinking water. Congratulations on being hydrated.

Lewis Thomason: What is one of the most memorable moments in your life so far?
Jimmy Duckworth: Graduating from Marine Corps Boot Camp, Paris Island.

Lewis Thomason: What is the most interesting thing you see out of your office?
Jimmy Duckworth: The rooftop of one of the buildings outside of my window use to be tennis courts. The nets are no longer up so now it just looks like a series of large green squares surrounded by a tall fence. I think it would make a great kickball field.

Lewis Thomason: What is one thing you will never do again?
Jimmy Duckworth: Take another bar exam.
