Michael Keeney, managing shareholder at the Memphis office of Lewis Thomason Law Firm, has been approved to replace Jack Sammons’ vacated spot on the Memphis-Shelby County Airport Board of Commissioners. Michael Keeney was nominated by Shelby County Mayor Mark Luttrell.
“Michael will bring unique skills to the Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority. His experience as a business and community leader will make him a great addition to the Airport Authority board and its mission to make Memphis one of the best airports int he country,” said Mayor Luttrell.
Keeney replaces the board position vacated by Sammons, who accepted the position of Chief Administrative Officer for the City of Memphis in May. Keeney will complete Sammons’ term, which expires December 31, 2016.
A 1992 graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Law in Knoxville, Keeney has practiced law since 1993. He received a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Lambuth College in Jackson in 1988.
Keeney currently serves on the board of directors for Orgill Inc. and is a member of the Chairman’s Circle for the Greater Memphis Chamber. He also serves on the board of directors for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis and is president of the University Neighborhood Development Corp.
