Parenthood is the single most rewarding experience of my life. It’s truly remarkable and humbling. It strips you of your pride, removes you from yourself and the pettiness of life, and exposes the magic that is the human experience.
Don’t get me wrong. It isn’t all rainbows and sunshine. Rather, it’s often hard and thankless work. For example, my child, Maxine, is almost two, and in her lifetime, I have changed nothing short of 8,000,000 diapers. In all those experiences, some of which mirrored a crime scene, I can count on one hand the number of times she has thanked me for a job well done.
