Sarah Sheppeard

Sarah Sheppeard, a shareholder in Lewis Thomason’s Knoxville office, led seminars for the Tennessee Law Institute (TLI) in September and October. She joined TLI in 1987. TLI founder Don Paine recruited Sarah because she co-wrote the 2nd through 6th editions of the treatise Tennessee Law of Evidence with Mr. Paine and Neil Cohen. Sarah was later recognized as the first Don Paine Lawyer Legacy Award recipient. The TLI 52nd Annual Review Seminar will occur in Chattanooga on November 28 and 29 and in Nashville on December 5 and 6. In addition to her work with TLI, Sarah is a Supreme Court Rule 31 Mediator and practices in the areas of domestic relations, estates, commercial law and general civil litigation. She is a past president of the Tennessee Bar Association and has chaired the Tennessee Bar Association Litigation Section and CLE Committee. She was chair of the Tennessee Judicial Evaluation Commission, was for 15 years an adjunct professor at the University of Tennessee College of Law, and was previously a member of the Tennessee Law Review. In 2014, she was presented with the Knoxville Bar Association’s highest honor, the Governors’ Award.
