Steve Barton and Peter Winterburn named Fellows of the Memphis Bar Foundation

Steve Barton and Peter Winterburn, both shareholders in Lewis Thomason’s Memphis office, were named Fellows of the Memphis Bar Foundation. Fellows are chosen based on their devoted and distinguished service to the legal profession and the administration of justice and their adherence to the highest standards of professional ethics and personal conduct.

Steve Barton serves as Co-Chair of the firm’s Construction Practice Group. He has successfully defended claims involving professional liability, construction, workers’ compensation, premises liability, intellectual liability, and personal injury. He has also argued cases before the Tennessee Court of Appeals and Supreme Court as well as the United States Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. Among his many professional accomplishments, Barton is named to The Best Lawyers in America©, Construction Litigation, Medical Malpractice Law – Defendants, and Personal Injury Litigation, Defendants, and is a Fellow of the Tennessee Bar Foundation. 

Peter Winterburn focuses his practice in Long Term Care defense and Medical Malpractice defense litigation. He has routinely litigated cases in trial courts and through the appellate process involving medical malpractice, Tennessee’s Health Care Liability Act, and Alternative Dispute Resolution Agreements in the health care setting.  Winterburn is an active member of the Defense Research Institute’s Medical Liability and Health Care Law committee, which is responsible for planning DRI’s Nursing Home/ALF Seminar each year, among other substantive seminars.  He has also written Alternative Dispute Resolution Agreements and trained managers and health care providers on arbitration.
