Miles McDowell is an associate in the firm’s Nashville office. Miles practices in the areas of General Civil Litigation, Transportation, Products Liability, Criminal Defense, Family Law, and Sports and Entertainment.

Miles graduated from University of Tennessee College of law, where he served as Treasurer of the Marilyn Yarborough Chapter of the Black Law Student Association. While in law school, Miles served as both a student attorney and clerk in the UT Legal Clinic where he gained insightful experience providing counsel, under supervision, in the areas of Criminal Defense, Family Law, and Expungement. Miles also served as coordinator of the Street Law program, which provided mentorship to local, lower income high school students while also teaching them everyday lessons about the law and being a lawyer. For his efforts in both the local community and law school, Miles was the 2021 recipient of the James Powers Award in Criminal Advocacy and the Julian Blackshear Outstanding Student Award.

A native of LaVergne, just outside of Nashville, Miles earned his Bachelor of Science in Sport Management at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where he also minored in Business and Political Science. During his time in Knoxville, Miles also served as a basketball coach at three local high schools as well as with a nationally recognized AAU program. Miles has a deep passion for giving back to the community and lives by the quote, “You miss 100% percent of the shots you never take.”
